➵ SHIPPING Broadly speaking, not super interested, but if you're a canonmate (especially Faquarl!), I'll probably be into it! Bartimaeus's whole situation largely resists shipping for many reasons, but the main one is that his most favoured human form is a fourteen-year-old boy.
➵ FIGHTING & INJURING Yes please! Bartimaeus is a very good fighter who will improvise and use his surroundings to advantage. He's quite powerful and hard to actually kill, though he's just as likely to make a run for it if he thinks he's going to lose. I'm happy for him to be injured too, since he has a number of weaknesses that could cause significant trouble for him. I'm not above someone locking him in a silver tureen full of clam chowder and letting him disintegrate into a muddled mass of slime. Let's discuss it OOC!

➵ MINDREADING Generally speaking I'm happy for characters to read Bart's mind! Let me know if they're going to, though – his mind works quite differently to a human's, with lots of competing trains of thought happening at the same time, and there's also the Seven Planes to factor in.

➵ CONTENT WARNING Bartimaeus's canon deals pretty explicitly with slavery in the sense that Bartimaeus considers himself a slave to magicians and will refer to himself as such. A key element of his backstory also involves the death of a child (a young teenager). Please let me know on this page if you want to avoid any of these topics or opt out of interacting with Bartimaeus at all! No hard feelings, comments are screened.

THE SEVEN PLANES » opt in.
There are also theoretically more than seven planes, but these can only be accessed by extremely powerful beings. I'm talking eldritch, unfathomable horrors here, such that even a being such as Bartimaeus whose home and natural state is a swirling mass of timeless, endless comingling light and colour wouldn't be able to even fully comprehend their power. This would also significantly impact their CR and how Bart would be likely to act around them.
Some examples: if your character is a run-of-the-mill vampire, they may appear completely normal on planes one and two, but on three and up they emit a dark aura and a stench of blood and death. Or maybe your character is the literal devil, so on planes one to six they look absolutely normal, but on the seventh their 'true form' is revealed in all its hideous glory.
Generally speaking, I will assume that Bartimaeus can sense nothing unusual about your character. However, if you would like to play with this and have Bartimaeus recognise some element of your character (or a magical item of theirs) that isn't otherwise visible, let me know here! Comments are screened.

Species Vampire!
Things you're happy for Bartimaeus to see: physically, the most uncanny part of armand's appearance (at least on a day-to-day level) are his eyes: at rest they're something of a burnished amber / caramel / brownish-orange color, so normally they can appear relatively... well, normal, but they do brighten significantly during times of high emotion. bartimaeus will probably be able to notice this about him right away (as well as armand's other subtle but inhuman details such as his fangs and claws) on plane 2, or even plane 1 if he'd be observant enough to pick up on armand's #vibes in a way any regular person who was paying attention would also be capable of— armand doesn't exactly disguise his appearance, but a lot of his more vampiric traits are simply not very noticeable until they're "active."
on plane 2 and upward, armand's eyes might always appear to glow for him. by plane 3 bartimaeus should be able to recognize armand as a vampire (or at least some kind of predatory supernatural being) but the presence of his ~aNcIEnT pOwER~ might take plane 4 or even 5 to recognize fully? tbh you'll know better than i would probably since you've also actually seen iwtv and i haven't read bartimaeus's book series, but i trust your judgement and am happy to talk out anything that merits further discussion!!
as for the higher planes (6 & 7) i feel like it's reasonable to say bart can probably see/sense the darker, more nosferatu-esque aspects that aren't usually actually relevant or visible unless the vampire in question has not been feeding properly, is basically starving and/or just in overall poor condition etc., like for example armand during his feral gremlin era with the tangled, greasy hair and ashy skin and all of that.
Anything you don't want him to see: nothing particularly comes to mind?? & i'm open to discussing stuff as it comes up regardless.

Species A human, but with weird connections I'll detail more below.
Things you're happy for Bartimaeus to see: So in general, Ren is a normal human person. However, he has a power from a god to connect with a Persona, which is kind of like connecting with a manifestation of yourself as a spirit. As a protag Ren is a special boy who can have more than one, so he's got 12 he can summon here (which are noted in his app if you're curious about what they all look like, they vary from animals, to almost-human looking faeries, to unknowable spirals and beyond). They can be summoned directly wherein everyone can see them, but it's generally accepted they're just kind of... around? Typically just hanging in his head, but they can 'talk' to their people so they may manifest on a different plane that usually only the Persona user can see. So basically: he'd likely look Very normal except his head is probably some kind of disco ball for no explainable reason, OR he can feel free to see this guy being tailed by 12 crazy mfers including a dragon at all times, which could be very fun.
He also occasionally can transform into his cool Persona outfit which is like, all magic, so that would be super visible on pretty much any plane. It's kind of unknown where it goes when it's not on, tbh.
Anything you don't want him to see: Not especially much else I can think of! Please, come get him.

Things you're happy for Bartimaeus to see: Honestly, he's pretty much what he appears to be. Some demons have human disguises, Blitzø does not. He does have a gem on his wrist that's extremely powerful and would, under other circumstances, allow him to teleport to the human world (or wherever else he felt like going). Alas, here it is powerless, but he does have fire powers now!
Anything you don't want him to see: Nah, everything's fair game!

Species Karovan. She appears just as human as any other human with the exception of her dormant telekinetic abilities (which she hasn't used since she was a child) and antibodies to a host of alien diseases.
Things you're happy for Bartimaeus to see: Her magic manifests as angry looking bolts of purple lightning that she can direct with her fingers or her staff. When she is especially angry it is reflected in her spells and the lightning is capable of taking out many targets at once. She was born as Karone but after getting kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming the Princess of Evil, Astronema, she learned from the best and didn't believe in 2nd place. After learning the truth, she flipped sides but is still at the start of her journey to redemption. Her magic is dark, but she is the furthest thing from it. She just falls back on her evil ways because it was all she knew for thirteen years. Her kill count is astronomical, she's wiped-out entire planets for not swearing fealty to Dark Specter and has never lost sleep - but it does bother her the more she breaks free of evil's hold. She wants to atone for it but doesn't know where to begin. She is constantly at war with herself, and it's reflected via dueling purple (evil) and pink (good) lights in her mind. x
Anything you don't want him to see: He is free to read her for filth, everyone else is usually too scared to.

Species Run of the mill vampire; mostly follows Dracula lore. Undead, has no soul, needs blood to live, etc.
Things you're happy for Bartimaeus to see: Anything he would typically notice about a vampire! Blood, death, general spooky aura, etc. There is nothing especially unusual about Laszlo's vampiric abilities; they are listed in full here for your reference.

Offensive Subjects & Triggers to Avoid No triggers in written stuff, but please generally warn for anything you feel is egregious or needs to be warned for and I will do the same. Please also warn me if you are going to send any footage (gifs, videos, etc.) with an unexpected car accident.
Physical Violence Yes, but Bartimaeus is a pretty formidable fighter, with magic and 5,000 years of experience on his side.

Psychic & Psionic Information I like to think that Bartimaeus's mind is a scary and hectic place. He can think on several different levels at once (this is represented with footnotes in the novels), so anyone who is capable of reading his mind would have a field day in there.
Magical Information Bartimaeus can view the Seven Planes, a thing from his world which basically means he can scan different layers of reality and see things that may otherwise be concealed on the layer that we can all see. There's an individual opt-in for this here if you would like to note anything your character in particular might display on other planes, otherwise I will default to him not being able to see anything out of the ordinary.
Medical Information Bartimaeus is basically allergic to iron and silver and, to a lesser degree, earth (mud, but also, like, The Earth). He is also a shapeshifter and when he's injured he bleeds something called essence, which is silvery and somewhere between a liquid and a gas.
